A Word to Pastors

The City of DeLand has a rich spiritual history even before its founding in 1882.  According to the 'Story of Deland and Lake Helen' in 1876 a group of settlers in the area met and determined that this area would be founded on "Christian Principles."  In 1882 the city logo was adopted proclaiming 'Faith, Hope and Charity."  In early 1898 D. L. Moody preached at Stetson University resulting in salvations and many enrolled in Bible Study courses.  Later in December Evangelist Sam Jones would preach resulting in over 10% of the City coming together to pray and received God's Word. 

Throughout the history of this area God has always looked for faithful men and women of God to declare His Mercy and Unfailing Love to our community.  Today is no exception.  In John 17, Jesus prays that we as Christians would be one and He and the Father are One.  He goes on to say that the world (our communities) would know us and that we represent Him by our love one for another.
